Your Gambling Harms Champions Network

Welcome! Now that you've completed the Gambling Harms Champions training, this page is your space to build on it. As a Champion, you're part of a growing network helping people understand gambling harms and find the right support sooner.

Here you'll find practical resources for your sessions and conversations, the latest research, training you can book onto, and a direct line to the Chapter One team. Have a look around, and come back whenever you need it.

Gambling harms in Leicestershire and Rutland

Knowing the scale of gambling harms in your area helps you have grounded, relevant conversations. These figures give you a local picture you can draw on in your sessions and when you're talking with the people you support.

Across Leicestershire 285,042 adults gambled in the last 4 weeks, with an estimated 8,902 experiencing adverse consequences from gambling.

The Gambling Commission has developed a data base, this breaks down numbers around gambling activity in different areas. You can explore that database here.

Resources

Everything you need to put your training into practice sits here: the materials from your session, plus newer resources from Chapter One as they're added. Download what's useful, use it in your sessions and conversations, and share it with colleagues who'd benefit.

  • TO ADD Presentation slides and decks Champions can use to run their own awareness sessions (for example PowerPoint, PDF). From the training pack and/or supplied by Chapter One.

  • TO ADD Guides, leaflets, and signposting materials for one-to-one conversations and directing people to support. Supplied by Chapter One.

NOTE If two groups is more structure than the content needs, collapse to a single download list. Check resource titles and file names against the language guide too, for example a file called 'Problem Gambling Toolkit' would need renaming.

Latest research

Staying current keeps your knowledge sharp and gives you evidence to draw on. This is where we'll share new research on gambling harms as it's published, so you can keep building on what you learned in the training.

TO ADD Curated list of links to research papers, reports, and articles on gambling harms. Seeded at launch and added to over time. Suggested format for each entry: title (as published), source or author, year, and a one-line note on why it's relevant to Champions.

COMPLIANCE Published titles will often use terms like 'problem gambling' or 'gambling disorder'. Don't reword a published title, as that would misquote the source. Put any softer framing in the one-line note beneath, which is Chapter One's own words.
